Kip Lady
Kip Lady comes from a family background of direct mail services. With his father, Karl Lady, Kip founded KaeL Direct in 1997, and began delivering direct mail marketing to services clients the next year. The quality and satisfaction of the clients for the variety of direct mail services offered by Kael Direct has been registered in its impressive growth. From initially operating from the basement of their home, KaeL Direct soon grew under their leadership to a company with 15 employees and 18 million annually in sales. As a result of this growth, KaeL Direct was honored as the fastest growing company in the country by the direct mail services industry trade association.
From the beginning, the vision of Kip and his father was immediately recognized by those needing direct mail marketing. For those needing direct mail services Kael Direct was created to:
- identify and target overcapacity in the direct mail marketplace;
- utilizing their total purchasing power to drive down costs through economies of scale for both direct mail strategies and tactics;
- embracing technology to streamline direct mail production processes;
- and hiring and retaining the best employees in the direct mail services business.
One of the most dynamic direct mailing campaigns that validated this business model was the "Neighborhood" program for MCI, the telecommunications giant headquartered in Washington, D.C. KaeL Direct was the primary direct mail vendor for MCI. In total, KaeL Direct printed, mailed and managed over 200 million pieces for MCI for direct mail marketing. The results delivered by the direct mail services of KaeL Direct that satisfied customers such as MCI was quickly recognized by others in the direct mail services industry. For two years in a row, KaeL Direct was recognized by Print Solutions Magazine as the fastest growing company in the direct mail services industry. In 2002, they were also recognized as the 23rd largest direct mail marketing distributor in the country.
Before founding Kael Direct with his father, Kip worked on Capitol Hill. He was an assistant with the Government Reform and Oversight Committee for the US House of Representatives. During his tenure the committee was involved in many high profile investigations and hearings such as Whitewater, Waco, and Travelgate. Before that, he worked for Representative Bob Erlich, who was later elected Governor of Maryland. Kip left the Hill for the private sector to work for McGregor Printing and Mailing, a nationwide forms and direct mail company based in Washington, DC. At McGregor he spent a year working at their Westminster, MD plant in a training program, where he rotated through all facets of the business.
A graduate of Ithica College, Kip holds a black belt in Tae Kwon Do. In his spare time, he enjoys playing ice hockey, golf, painting, traveling and gastronomic indulgences. He is currently the Membership Chair of the Next Generation Leaders, a group of young professionals that work with the Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Washington and volunteers with the Direct Marketing Association of Washington (he is currently planning their Annual Golf Tournament). He supports Golden Retriever Rescue, Education, and Training as well as various Artistic Institutions and political causes. He lives in Arlington, VA with his wife Heather, daughters Reagan and Parker, and their dog Maisy.
An owner of KaeL Direct, Kip focuses on business development and client relations for the direct mail marketing services that KaeL Direct provides.
